Sean Parahus is currently in his 5th year of the Architectural Engineering program at The Pennsylvania State University. In May 2019, he will graduate with his Bachelors of Architectural Engineering degree, with a focus in construction, and has pursued the Smeal College Business Fundamentals Certificate to diversify his background. During the Summer of 2016, Sean had the opportunity to study abroad in China. Throughout the last few years, Sean has been actively involved in Penn State’s Dance Marathon and was chosen to danced independently this past Spring.

Sean has been fortunate in having various internship experiences for the past three summers. Working for Toll Brothers as a project manager intern for the first two summers, he was able to learn a great deal about the residential home building industry. Taking a lead role on a large project, he bid out over $1 million in landscaping for a new model home park. This opportunity taught him how to analyze, negotiate, and award a bid to the most qualified contractor. As a project engineer intern this past summer, Sean worked alongside project superintendents to coordinate deliveries while maintaining the required site utilization measures. He developed advanced communication skills by analyzing punch-lists and distributing the work to trades. Overall, Sean’s experiences have enabled him to better understand what it takes to become a leader, take on challenges, and ultimately work with a team to effectively deliver a product that is above the customer’s expectation.

Outside of academics, Sean enjoys living an active and healthy lifestyle. Spending a lot of the time down at the shore with his family, Sean enjoys surfing and relaxing on the beach. When the weather is nice you can also find him out on the golf course catching up with friends and developing his network. He prides himself in volunteering once a year to prepare the Seeds of Peace campground for its annual International Summer Camp. Ultimately, Sean is searching for more opportunities to give back to the community and those less fortunate.
